Dinner Debate in the European Parliament on the Future of Transport

Mobility For Prosperity in Europe organised a high-level dinner-debate on 9 October 2009 in the European Parliament, gathering around one hundred participants. These included Members of the European Parliament and top officials at the European Commission, as well as industry experts and representatives of Member States, NGO’s, media and other transport stakeholders.

Among the high-profile speakers were

  • Werner Kuhn, MEP and Vice Coordinator of the EPP Group in the TRAN Committee
  • Mattia Pellegrini, representing Vice-President of the European Commission Antonio Tajani
  • Anne Houtman, Director for Internal Market & Sustainability from DG TREN

The individual speakers gave an overview of the European Parliament's view on the future of transport, provided an analysis of the Commission's Communication on the Future of Transport or focused on the Commission's efforts for formulate a transport policy for Europe.
